Best Pressure Washer

Sun Joe SPX3000 Pressure Joe 2030 PSI 1.76 GPM 14.5-Amp Electric Pressure Washer

The Pressure Joe SPX3000’s high-powered 1800 Watt/14.5-amp motor enables this electric pressure water to boast an impressive maximum 2030 PSI of water pressure and 1.76 GPM water flow. The result is a robust pressure water that’s tough enough to tackle even the most stubborn pressure washing tasks.

Dual detergent tank system

The SPX3000 from Sun Joe features two onboard 0.9-liter detergent tanks. Each tank can be filled with a different detergent, thereby maximizing your efficiency as you move from one task to another. Additionally, the detergent tanks are both fully removable, so you can easily carry and store them when they’re not in active use.

5 quick-connect spray nozzles

There are 5 quick-connect spray nozzles on the Pressure Joe SPX3000: 0-degree, 15-degree, 25-degree, 40-degree and soap. These easy-to-use interchangeable nozzle tips allow you to go from one application to the next with seamless simplicity. The varying degrees are what controls the pressure/intensity of the water jet. 40 degrees is the lowest setting, and is a low-pressure fan of water. Meanwhile, the 0-degree setting is at the opposite end of the spectrum; at 0 degrees, the water jet is ultra-high-pressured and focused like a laser beam, blasting through the toughest tasks like a boss.

34-inch extension spray wand

Sun Joe SPX3000 pressure washerThe 34-inch extension spray wand is designed to lengthen your reach while using the Pressure Joe Pressure Washer. This is ideal for people who need to pressure wash the second story of their home—and it’s great for small, tricky-to-reach spaces as well.

Total Stop System (TSS)

The Total Stop System is a Sun Joe innovation designed to prolong your Pressure Joe SPX3000’s lifespan. It works like this: If you’re not actively engaging the trigger, the pump shuts off. It’s good for saving energy too. And, in a way, this is also a safety feature, because it also prevents your pressure washer from working when you’re not operating it.

First impression

There was some minor assembly required with the Pressure Joe SPX3000; however, it was very simple and took under 20 minutes. (I highly recommend you follow the instructions/diagrams to the letter, because they are there for a reason.)

I like the straightforward setup and layout of the SPX3000. When you first start to use it, you don’t feel overwhelmed. Instead, you feel like you “got this”, which is a good feeling—especially if you’ve never used a pressure washer before.

Prior to the SPX3000, I’ve only ever used gas-powered pressure washers, so I was amazed by how quiet the electric Pressure Joe is compared to gas-powered units. The noise pollution was almost nil, which somehow makes the whole task a lot more zen.

The main thing I wanted to achieve with the pressure washer was to blast away the dirt and gunk that’s built up on our siding so that we can repaint it. I set the nozzle to 25 degrees to see how it handled. Higher up on the house, where there is less discoloration from dirt and mold, etc., that pressure handled the job great. (Obviously, I kept it away from windows.) This is where the 34-inch extension wand really came in handy.

For the bottom of the house, like around the foundation, which is brick, I opted for the 15-degree setting, because the buildup was a lot thicker there, and I know that brick is tougher than siding and could likely handle the higher pressure just fine. And I was pleased with the results. It blasted through everything quickly and efficiently and now there is no more black moldy crud in between the bricks of my foundation.

Finally, I used the lowest 40-degree setting along with gentle detergent to wash the car and the kids’ outdoor playset. The 40-degree setting was perfect and has that right mix of being powerful enough to do the job without being so flimsy that it takes forever, which, for me, based on past experience with a previous pressure washer, this was a great part of my pressure-washing day.

  • Some people prefer to replace the plastic hose adapter with a brass one, but this can be easily accomplished. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Some people who have purchased the Pressure Joe more recently have actually received a metal version of the adapter straight out of the box on receiving their pressure washer, so Sun Joe seems to be phasing out the plastic adapter some have complained about, so this con may not be relevant for much longer.Sun Joe SPX3000

The Ivation Electric Pressure Washer puts out an impressive 2200 PSI of water pressure and 1.8 GPM water flow; all of this is backed by its high-powered 1800 Watt/14.5-amp motor.

5 quick-connect nozzle tips

Ivation ElectricThe included 5 color-coded quick-connect nozzle tips are easily interchangeable and come with the following pressure settings: 0-degree, 15-degree, 25-degree and 40-degree. The fifth nozzle is reserved for the soap put forth by the onboard detergent dispenser for deeper cleaning.

Easy setup

Setting up the Ivation Electric Pressure Washer is easy; Ivation claims it can be done in as little as 30 seconds. Setup involves connecting three copper connectors to the pressure washer components and hose—it’s that simple.

Bonus Turbo Spray Wand

The Turbo Spray Wand has been thrown in with the Ivation Pressure Washer as a free bonus. It boosts your pressure washing ability by extending your reach so you can wash all of the hard to reach areas around your home, garden and car with ease and confidence.

Detergent dispenser

Ivation’s Pressure Washer features an onboard detergent dispenser, which holds the detergent of your choice while you clean. It works seamlessly with the soap dispenser nozzle to wash the car or clean the grime off your kid’s swing set.

First impression

I’m a real big fan of how easy the Ivation Electric Pressure Washer is to setup. I work a fulltime job, so I have to do all of my outside chores on the weekend, which means I value efficiency. I didn’t time setup exactly, but it was definitely under a minute, mainly involving connecting the required components.

As for function, I had a lot of fun blasting the grease spots out of my driveway and garage. On the 0-degree setting, it worked like a charm, and despite the high-pressure setting, it was very easy to handle too. I also used the high setting to help my sister blast away old paint on her deck and, once again, it got the job done.

I’m tall, so I found it easy enough to reach the second story of my house with the extender, though I know other people have had issues. I think it just really depends on your height, but for me, it was fine.

Overall, the Ivation is very functional and gets the job done. Plus, the copper connections are a win; they just seem sturdier compared to alternatives.

  • Easy setup: Simply connect the three connectors to the hose and pressure washer components
  • Easy to maneuver thanks to built-in wheels at the bottom
  • Easy to use

  • There have been some issues with the extender wand. The main issue is that people find it’s hard to reach the second story of their home, because the hose the extender connects too is too short. Some people also find issue with the quality of the wand connection itself. The first issue only applies to you if you have a second story (or taller) home; the latter issue is something you could take up with customer service if need be, since there is a 1-year warranty.Ivation Electric pressure washer

SIMPSON Cleaning MSH3125-S 3100 PSI at 2.5 GPM Gas Pressure Washer Powered by HONDA with OEM Technologies Axial Cam Pump

The Simpson Cleaning MSH3125-S Gas Pressure Washer is powered by a Honda GC190 engine, giving it foundation it needs to produce an impressive 3100 PSI water pressure and 2.5 GPM water flow.

5 spray tips with varying pressure settings

The Simpson Cleaning Gas Pressure Washer comes with 5 interchangeable spray tips. One is for soap while the other four have varying degrees of pressure designed to suit your specific needs. The settings are: 0 degrees, 15 degrees, 25 degrees and 40 degrees.

MorFlex abrasion-resistant hose

One of the big standout features of the Simpson Cleaning pressure washer is its MorFlex hose, which is not only kink-resistant, but resistant to abrasion as well, which makes it well-suited to even the most demanding of pressure washer applications. Additionally, the MorFlex hose is non-marring, lightweight and ultra-flexible, so it’s easy to wield as well.

Total Stop Shutoff (TSS) technology

SIMPSON Cleaning MSH3125-S pressure washerSimpson Cleaning’s pressure washer features TSS auto shutoff technology, which means the pressure washer ceases to function the second you’re no longer operating the trigger. Not only is this a safety benefit, but it’s also good for the life of the pressure washer itself.

Heavy-duty construction

The Simpson Cleaning Gas Pressure Washer features welded steel construction and a heavy-gauge frame, making it an ace when it comes to standing up to wear and tear. Semi-pneumatic wheels not only make maneuverability a snap, but they also help prolong the wheel’s lifetime as well.

First impression

The Simpson Cleaning Gas Pressure Washer makes a sturdy, well-built presentation right out of the gate—or box, as the case may be. The build seems to be extra-solid compared to some other gas-powered pressure washers I’ve used in the past, which says good things about the manufacturer’s claims of heavy-gauge frame construction, etc.

As far as function goes, the pressure washer starts as soon as you pull the ripcord. (You know, providing you have your oil and gas in place.) The Honda engine definitely feels high-powered and gives a nice little rumble while on. In fact, I would say the Honda engine is one of the best things about this pressure washer, simply because it’s A.) reliable and B.) sets it apart from pressure washers with flimsier engines.

Operation is easy. You feel in control while you’re using the Simpson pressure washer. A big difference, I feel, is how the 40-degree nozzle works with the 3100 PSI. It just seems more efficient and it definitely got my garden furniture looking spiffy in no time.

I used the 15-degree setting for cleaning the grime and moss of our back walkway, which was pretty built up, because it’s in the shade, and it, too, performed nicely.

I’m a big fan of the MorFlex hose, which, along with the Honda engine, is a standout feature. The hose is very easy to wield, but at the same time you can feel the quality and durability, and it handle high pressure settings very well.

  • 2-year limited consumer warranty on engine
  • 1-year limited warranty on pump
  • 5-year limited warranty on frame
  • 90-day warranty on nozzles
  • 3100 PSI water pressure
  • 5 GPM water flow
  • Honda GC190 engine with compact combustion chamber design to reduce the rate of fuel consumption, boosting efficiency
  • Gas-powered pressure washer
  • 5 color-coded, quick-change pressure settings: 0-degree, 15-degree, 20-degree, 40-degree and soap
  • MorFlex kink and abrasion-resistant hose is lightweight, durable and flexible, and designed for heavy-duty usage
  • Auto-shutoff feature for safety
  • Welded steel construction
  • Heavy-gauge frame
  • 10-inch semi-pneumatic wheels make for easy maneuverability
  • Meets CARB emission standards

    • Like all gas-powered pressure washers, you’re going to want to consider storage so that your home doesn’t smell like gas fumes. This isn’t a problem with this particular pressure washer, and has no bearing on its function; rather, it’s universal con that comes with most gas-powered equipment.

GreenWorks GPW1501 13 amp 1500 PSI 1.2 GPM Electric Pressure Washer

Easy to use

The GreenWorks GPW1501 Electric Pressure Washer can be used either horizontally or vertically, depending on your preference. The big benefit of this is stability and maneuvering ability, and it’s a standout feature, since most pressure washers don’t have a horizontal option.

Ideal for light to moderate pressure washer needs

GreenWorks GPW1501 pressure washerThe GreenWorks Electric Pressure Washer is explicitly designed for homeowners who don’t need a heavy-duty pressure washer, but who need a solid pressure washer that works for common applications around the home. There are two settings: The 25-degree setting is ideal for cleaning your deck or patio while the 40-degree setting is perfect for lighter applications, such as washing your car.

Soap applicator

The GreenWorks pressure washer comes with a soap applicator, which allows you to easily dispense soap whenever needed, like for when you’re washing the car.

20-foot high pressure hose

The included 20-foot high pressure hose greatly extends your pressure washing reach, enabling you to reach the second story of your home and more.

At 17.5 pounds, the GreenWorks Electric Pressure Washer is lightweight and easy to maneuver.

First impression

Upfront, the manufacturer states the GreenWorks Electric Pressure Washer is designed from light to mid-range applications. It’s important to know that going in, because this isn’t a high-powered pressure washer. Rather, it’s a lighter pressure-washer intended for use around the home and as an aid to the daily chores most homeowners have.

All of that said, when you understand its intended use, the GreenWorks Electric Pressure Washer handles great. The 25-degree setting is great for blasting built-up mold and mildew (which is a big problem where I live) from my siding, and the 20-foot high pressure hose is a great help for that purpose too.

Using the low setting, 40 degrees, to wash my car was easy as well and went as smoothly as you could hope for.

For me, the big takeaway from the GreenWorks offering is that it’s easy to use, does the job—and the option to use it horizontally or vertically is a nice, unique addition, which really does enable greater stability, per the manufacturer’s claim.

  • 1-year warranty
  • 1500 PSI water pressure
  • 1 GPM water flow
  • 13-amp power
  • Light to mid-duty pressure washer for household needs
  • 20-foot high water pressure hose
  • Two quick-change nozzle pressure settings: 25 degrees and 40 degrees
  • Can be used horizontally or vertically
  • Soap applicator included
  • Lightweight at just 17.5 pounds
  • Easy to use

  • It only has two pressure settings: 25-degree and 40-degree. The reason for this is it’s intended for light to mid-range applications, which means this pressure washer isn’t intended for high-demand pressure washing needs, and won’t be able to handle them. That said, for those whose needs fit this pressure washer, that won’t be an issue.GreenWorks GPW1501

Final Verdict

Sun Joe SPX3000Though there were some very respectable contenders in this roundup for best pressure washer, at the end of the day, the Sun Joe SPX3000 Pressure Joe 2030 PSI 1.76 GPM 14.5-Amp Electric Pressure Washer easily won out. Between its reliability, easy use, and all the features you could possibly want in the pressure washer of your dreams, the Pressure Joe Electric Pressure Washer is easily the leader of the pack.

The benefits of buying a pressure washer

The biggest benefit of buying a pressure washer is, hands down, how much faster it helps you clean than if you were to do everything by hand or just a garden hose with a standard spray attachment. Pressure washers are expressly designed to blast away ground in grime without you doing any of the heavy work, and because they use so much water pressure, they get it done fast, saving you valuable time and energy.

Pressure washers aren’t just for cleaning. Residential-grade pressure washers are also great for priming your deck or siding for a fresh coat of paint, which is another highly popular use for them, as home renovation grows more and more in popularity and accessibility.

Tips on how to choose the best pressure washer for your needs

There are a few things to keep in mind in order to choose the best pressure washer for your needs. Consider the following:

  • The majority of pressure washers have 5 interchangeable nozzles, four of which spray water at varying degrees of pressure. The highest-pressure setting is 0 degrees; because at 0 degrees there is no angle, you get a very narrow, laser-like jet of high-pressured water designed to blast away the toughest of stuck-on gunk. Meanwhile, the lowest pressure setting is typically 40-degrees; at this wide angle, water sprays out like a fan and is therefore much less intense than the lower degree settings. This setting is what is commonly used for gentler tasks, like washing your car. The fifth nozzle is for soap/detergent, designed to boost the cleaning power of the other nozzles.
  • Some pressure washers feature less pressure settings than the aforementioned four above. Some may feature as few as two. Any time a pressure washer contains fewer pressure nozzles than the standard four, always read what pressure level the included nozzles are. Usually, abbreviated pressure washers like this will be geared towards either heavy-duty only tasks or light-duty only tasks.
  • If your pressure washing needs are diverse and/or always change, opt for a pressure washer with the standard four pressure nozzles (with number five being the soap nozzle). This will ensure you always have the tools you need to finish you task.
  • Remember that consumer pressure washers are typically dived broadly into two categories: electric and gas-powered. Electric are quieter, though some people prefer gas as simply a preference thing. Really, just go with works best for you and your needs.
  • Opt for a pressure washer with wheels if you have a weight lifting restrictions, as they can be difficult to carry for those with mobility issues.
